Monitoring conducted by “Okaz”, based on government reports, revealed that individual purchases from restaurants, cafes, food and drink exceeded 162.58 billion riyals, equivalent to about 29.13% of the total of all other purchases paid through the (points of sale) service, as it is considered the “food and drink” and restaurant sectors. And coffee shops ranked first and second in sales.
According to the monitoring, the total value of sales for all sectors amounted to about 559.13 billion riyals, while the number of transactions amounted to about 7.26 billion transactions, (bringing the average value of one transaction to about 77 riyals).
The various services sector came in third place, with a sales value of about 59.91 billion riyals, equivalent to about 10.71% of total sales. Clothing and shoes came in fourth place, with sales amounting to 42.15 billion riyals, and accounted for 7.54% of total purchases by individuals and establishments.
Sales to the health sector ranked fifth, with a value of about 38.17 billion riyals, equivalent to its acquisition of 6.83% of total sales, then transportation by 5.5%, equivalent to 30.74 billion riyals, and the rest of the sales were divided into many sectors, most notably «construction and construction, furniture, entertainment Culture, electrical and electronic equipment, hotels, jewelry, education, public utilities, communications, in addition to unclassified sales (others).
With regard to the number of operations carried out during the past year, which amounted to about 7.26 billion operations, the restaurants and cafes and food and beverage sectors were in the lead with 3.74 billion operations, equivalent to more than half of the operations that took place in all other sectors.
It is noteworthy that the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia (SAMA) announces weekly the total sales of all sectors, showing the number and value of transactions, and the main sectors.
