The price of a skeleton of one of the giant Tyrannosaurus rex that roamed the earth 67 million years ago has ended up with a price of 5.5 million Swiss francs ($ 6.13 million) at a Swiss auction, and the price was not expected.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex is known simply as T-Rex, and the TRX-293 Trinity skeleton is 3.9 meters high and 11.6 meters long, and it is composed of 293 bones from 3 Tyrannosaurus rex found between 2008 and 2023 in the US states of Montana and Wyoming.

According to "Sky News", an undisclosed buyer bid the winning price in the auction, which is 4.8 million Swiss francs, less than the estimate that ranged between 5 and 8 million Swiss francs, but the total price rose after adding the buyer's premium and the Kohler Auction House fees, and reached 5.5 million Swiss francs.

Kohler, the largest auction house in Switzerland, confirmed in a statement that this is the first time in Europe and the third time in the world that a complete T-Rex skeleton of exceptional quality has been offered at auction. More than half of the bones in the skeleton are original and the remainder are replacements made of plaster and epoxy resin.

It is noteworthy that two other T-Rex skeletons found in North America were previously sold, namely the Su chassis, which sold at a price of $8.4 million in 1998, and Stan, at a price of $31 million in 2020.
