Jose Luis Garcia Death – Cause of Death – The man struck and killed on Monday night, 15th of November 2021, has been identified by authorities as 60-year-old Jose Luis Garcia from Fort Smith. The Arkansas State Police said Garcia died after being struck by a Prius while crossing Kinkead Ave. on Monday.
According to the police, the driver of the Prius that struck Garcia said that they were driving east on Kinkead Ave. at the intersection of Melrose Ave. The driver said that due to oncoming headlights, they could not see Garcia in the roadway.
A City of Fort Smith representative said they are looking into hiring a mobility coordinator who will work with public safety officials and are surveying areas around the city where they need to add street lights, 5News mentioned in a release.
