A recent study found that magnesium contributes to improving brain health, showing that those who ate magnesium-rich meals experienced less age-related brain shrinkage, and they also had smaller lesions of white matter, which is a sign of brain aging, according to Business Insider. The study, published in the "European Food Journal", analyzed the health data of about 6,000 participants residing in the United Kingdom, whose ages ranged between 40 and 73 years.

The researchers said: "Increasing magnesium intake may significantly improve brain health, which is also expected to contribute to maintaining greater cognitive ability."
