The world is sadder place without him. I met Duncan Skinner 5 years ago. We did a Podcast and he spoke at one our events. He was one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. Always there to help and he put others before him. Thanks for all your advice over the years, Duncan. It will be a huge loss for us all. Thoughts are with the family.

Now that his son Andrew has announced it, I t is with great sorrow that I can tell friends that my beloved nephew and Godson Duncan Skinner passed away on Thursday, age 63.

I was with my sister Jessie the night he was born, in a great hurry- it was meant to be Cresswell ,Dumfries but only made it to Moffatt Cottage Hospital- His father David was vet there at the time. I carried him into the family church in Oban for his christening. He, in turn as an adult escorted me to functions and hosted and paid for my Doctorate party.
He was generous to a fault and spent the last few years supporting charities and helping others.
I last saw him for lunch in the Cafe Royal in February of last year and he was then so confident that he was going to recover– he was a big, healthy mountaineer, walker, golfer , but it was not to be.
He leaves a great emptiness.
