On Tuesday April 6, 2021, Karol Jankowski never came home after work. The police were called in that night to begin their investigation. Not only did the police start searching for Karol that night, but dozens of friends and family members started searching for him as well. I can honestly say that we did everything in our power to find Karol, which included listening to psychics, tracing back through his travels, people driving up and down side streets at all hours of the night, doing a TV interview and news article, calling long term parking facilities like airports, to distributing his poster as far as we could with the help of a transport truck leasing company, etc. You name it we did it. I would just like to take a moment here to Thank ALL of you, no matter what role you played (big or small), for helping us try to bring Karol home.
On Sunday April 25, 2021, two detectives came to my parents’ home to tell me that his van had been found and that there was a deceased male found in his van. It took another four days for the coroner to identify the body and inform me that the Love of My Life is Gone. The coroner did let me know that Karol did not suffer, which hopefully we can all find a small bit of comfort in.
All of you who knew him (even if it was only for a short while) knew that Karol was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back and would expect nothing in return. He had a smile and a laugh that you could recognize anywhere and could light up any room he wanted. He always had the BEST stories….no matter what he did – he always seemed to get into some kind of shenanigans. Some of you reading this played bigger roles in these stories (you all know who you are), and he wouldn’t have had it any other way. Karol is survived by his mother – Wieslawa, his father – Wieslaw and his two brothers Stan and Piotr. However, he is survived by so many other “family members” who Karol loved just as much. I would love to name you all but my head is swimming, right now, and if I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out; so once again I will say you know who you are.
My ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE thing about Karol was that he had one of the BIGGEST hearts of anyone I know. It wasn’t always easy to see, but for those of us who really knew him, we could see it in almost everything he did. When he loved someone, he LOVED someone. I think I benefited from this the most out of everyone. When people would see Karol and I together, there was no denying how much we loved each other. You could see it in everything we did together. We always enjoyed being in each other’s company. We did not do much without the other because we always wanted to create our memories together. Everyone could always see how much he loved me in all the little things he would do for me (as if it was second nature), in the way he would light up when we saw each other, the way he could ALWAYS make me laugh (even if was mad at him), and the way he ALWAYS let me hold his hand or his arm just to reassure me that he would catch me if I fell (just to name a few).
I could go on and one but there will be time for that in days to come. I just wanted to thank everyone who is reading this to know how much Karol loved you all. And I know that we will ALWAYS remember the wonderful person Karol was, and who will for evermore remain in our hearts.
