My heart is broken. Yesterday I lost my basketball loving, hair cutting, mental health advocating, diesel drinking, reality tv starring big brother. Tavita was so many things, but to me he was my idol. My idol was extremely tall and dorky but he was also funny, inspiring, charismatic, wise and so so kind. As I can gather he touched so many hearts and aided so many people in finding their voice, I just wish in the moment he remembered he had his. Receiving news like this is not something I’d ever wish on anyone. If you are struggling, reach out to someone who is trained to help. I wish things could be different. I wish we could go back in time and I could ring him and tell him I love him. Tell your family you love them every single day, coz one day you might not get the chance.

News of your passing is heartbreaking Tavita TK Karika I remember you as a sick basketball player, a cheeky mate with the most infectious laugh but will remember you mostly because since even then, 18 years ago, you openly showed how much you loved and adored your Mum. You spent New Year’s Eve with me one year when I had, what I thought then as a young teenage girl, to be “the worst night ever”. I was sitting alone on a grassy hill at Caroline Bay, and you just came and sat with me and chilled then made sure I got home safely. That’s who I remember; someone caring, kind, thoughtful, and respectful.
