The MCSO family mourns the passing of Law Enforcement Sergeant Ernie Quintero, a 25-year veteran, and Detention Officer Kevin Fletcher, a 15-year-veteran, on Monday, July 06, 2020. Sgt. Quintero’s current assignment was at the Court Security Division and Officer Fletcher’s assignment was at the 4th Ave. Jail. Sheriff Penzone and everyone at the Sheriff’s Office extend our deepest sympathy to the Quintero and Fletcher families for their loss. MCSO will forever be in gratitude of Sergeant Quintero’s and Officer Fletcher’s service and contributions to the agency and our community. Our hearts are heavy today.

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to my former MCSO workmates Sergeant Ernie Quintero and Detention Officer Kevin Fletcher and their families. I knew both of these great men. It is sad losing one person you know but two in one day is beyond tragic. Both succumbed to illness way before their time.

There is a numbness that overcomes you no matter how hardened you become even after years in law enforcement when the life of someone is snatched away from them. May they Rest In Peace

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the passing of two of its deputies Monday afternoon.
Officials say a 25-year veteran, Law Enforcement Sergeant Ernie Quintero and a 15-year-veteran, Detention Officer Kevin Fletcher passed away Monday.
Sgt. Quintero was assigned to the Court Security Division while Officer Fletcher was assigned to the Fourth Avenue Jail.
Their cause of death is currently unknown.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
