Eric Carr Death -Eric Carr, of Irving, Texas, a Coach and former veteran professional basketball player, who is named as the Director of International Scouting for the Middle East. by the Pro Basketball Association passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. The news of his death was announced on Facebook by his friend and former teammate Nat P. Amato on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in the post he wrote “Basketball has brought so many wonderful friends into my life and I’m forever grateful for those friendships but that’s what makes today so difficult. I lost one of the most special kids I’ve ever met on the court, Eric Carr. Just the nicest human being you could ever encounter in a competitive atmosphere. I truly loved the kid and his smile and demeanor will always remain vivid in my heart. Love you and thanks for the respect you’ve always given me. RIP Eric”
He is a native of Colquitt, Georgia, he attended Spencer High School (Columbus, Georgia). He went to Penn State University from 1989 to 1994, where he studied Recreation Sports Management. He got married on July 19, 2005. On January 16, 2021, pbaplayers.com wrote that The Pro Basketball Association has named Eric Carr as the Director of International Scouting for the Middle East. Coach Carr has been working in the Middle East for the last 8 years and worked his way up the ladder beginning as a Head Assistant for Robert Taylor who spent 40 years directing clubs in the region, including the Women’s National Team of Qatar and the U-19 team. Coach Carr is a FIBA licensed coach and will be instrumental in helping the PBA from a coaching and scouting perspective having known and worked with many teams in Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. He’s also very close with and has worked with PBA International Scouting Director Lasalle Taylor in Mexico and Antoine Broxsie who is the PBA National Director of Scouting.
Before becoming a coach, Carr was a 16 year overseas veteran as a professional basketball player. An all-around player that graduated from Penn State University as a 4-year letter winner in 1993. Carr signed with Nassjo in Sweden in 1994 where he set the league on fire After leaving Sweden, Carr went on to star in Countries all over the world including Portugal, Uruguay, Paraguay, Belize, Finland, Luxembourg, Mexican leagues of CIMEBA, CIBACOPA, LNBP, LICOMUBA, LIMEBA, and Liga Sureste. Carr has been a 6x All-Star, Dunk Champion, multiple-time leading scorer, and many other awards and accolades.
