InsideEko is yet to confirm Joe Motsogi’s cause of death as no health issues, accident or other causes of death have been learned to be associated with the passing.
This death has caused a lot of friends and family of Motsogi so much hurt. It is in that mourning spirit that the concerned persons have taken to social media to share tributes to the deceased and condolences to the affected family.

Sometimes it is not easy to write or speak about someone whom was close to many people in a different a way. Sometimes one have to go back to his or her memory or brain storage( if we have one) to search for things you did or said with a particular person.
I’m writing today , still in shock or still trying to come to terms of the passing of Mr Joe “bra Joe” Motsogi on Friday 25 June 2020 Joe or Bra Joe as many of us in the Tourism sector particularly in the Tourist Guide/Operators role will call him, he was a Humble person, a person who will always share advices. I never heard that Bra Joe was here and there fighting or arguing with someone. The man whom was seen by many as the father of Soweto Tourism, who worked his way up from being a registered Tourist Guide to open a touring company JMT TOURS with his wife Sophie which was operating well and successfully , formed GATOA (GAUTENG TOUR OPERATORS ASSOCIATION)with other operators. Some of the Soweto Guides, came to be grown and empowered by Bra Joe.
I remember one day talking about him with a very close associate of him, talking about his wealth / richness knowledge about our history as well as what he has done for himself to be visible in the Tourism sector, I said to the lady Bra Joe is getting old, that worries me because when time arrives for him to sit down or he decide to retire whom will be there to take his place, who will be there were many of us will contact him to refer and confirm some of the stories we always share with our clients or questions we are been asked by our clients while doing our days tours , overland tours and so forth….I mentioned he is a master whom we look up to…….then it happens that the lady misinterpret our conversation, she went to say Joe Tefo say you are old you need to sit down, that left me shattered. Bra Joe called me a day after to ask me what I said…..I could sense that this call is not one of those call that Bra Joe will make to me…as humble as he was , a good listener as he was…he said I don’t believe what I’m being told, what you said about me , please tell me what were you saying….I said Bra Joe in short I said to the lady we can’t afford to lose you…you are a legend , when someone say you are old that does not mean you must sit down. I was saying we need your knowledge and skills…you always stand for “black excellence ” in our line of duty…he knew what a meant. He said don’t stress focus on your group…..I will explain in detail to the lady that she got it wrong….and he did that.
I will miss You Bra Joe, not long ago we were talking about the impact of the virus, what is doing to our Industry especially our livelihoods. When we did Soweto tour inspection in Collaboration with GATOA and IPTGSA together with JOBURG TOURISM, I did not know that will be the last time I see you.. The last call you made to me checking on me and the family did not know that was the last call I will receive from you even hearing your voice for the last time. As soldier you kept the pain to yourself , you kept fighting the pain that was attacking you alone with your family by your site. You will be solely be missed by everyone whom came to know you, worked with you. Especially your family.
THE LEGEND HAS FALLEN…..REST IN PEACE Oom Joe…Till we meet again..
