The Rap icon manager, Jenni Izumi has made a statement regarding rumors circulating on social media about the death of New York City rapper Biz Markie.

Jenni Izumi said “news of 57-year-old artist and actor passing is false”

It was reported in April 2020 that Markie had spent several weeks in the hospital receiving treatment for an illness caused by complications from diabetes while in December 2020, we also learned that Markie had suffered a stroke while still in hospital recovering from Diabetes.

WHO IS BIZ MARKIE?

Marcel Theo Hall, 57, known by his stage name Biz Markie, was born April 8, 1964 in Manhattan, New York. Markie is an American rapper, singer, DJ and record producer.

He attended Longwood High School, where he graduated in 1982. He also began his musical career in New York nightclubs and later gained regional recognition by performing at colleges in Washington, DC, Maryland in Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Markie is best known for his 1989 single “Just a Friend”, which went on to become a Top 40 hit in several countries.

Markie released his first album, Goin ‘Off in 1988 and the second album was released on October 10, 1989 “The Biz Never Sleeps”. Markie’s third studio album, I Need a Haircut, was released on August 27, 1991.
