The RI sport’s world lost a legend today with the passing of Lou Schwechheimer to COVID related illness. Though he was a minor league owner now living in Wichita Lou was a fixture on the RI sports’ scene for over 35 years as part of the PawSox. God speed LS

We remember Lou Schwechheimer–driving force behind the return of affiliated baseball to Wichita and construction of new ballpark there. Spent 35 years with the @PawSox. Formed group that purchased 2 @MiLB teams – Single-A @StoneCrabs and AAA @cakesbaseball, who moved to Wichita. pic.twitter.com/YaaXqGCtVX

Heartbreaking to learn of the loss @UMassAmherst alum Lou Schwechheimer due to #COVID19. While @PawSox he was always a very strong supporter of @McCormackUMass program. Guest speaker, internship sponsor, mentor, and all around wonderful, kind, giving, positive person.
