On July 28, 2020 just after 10pm, Florence Police Officers responded to an address in the 800 block of East 5th Street in reference to a shooting. A 64 year old male was transported to Penrose Main Hospital in Colorado Springs via helicopter with a gunshot wound. The victim later died of from his injuries. FPD detained a 57 year old male on scene. There are no outstanding suspects or threats to the community at this time.
This case is being jointly investigated by the Florence Police Department, the 11th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
