“CLARKE COUNTY MAN DIES IN CRASH ON I-20 –
A vehicle crash on I-20 claimed the life of a Clarke County man early Wednesday morning on Interstate 20 near the 20/59 interchange.

The crash occurred at 2:27 a.m. Wednesday morning which shut down one lane of I-20 for approx. 9 hours.

David Talley, 56, of County Road 467 (Snell Community) was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus when it collided with the 18-wheeler, said Sgt. Jameka Moore of Mississippi Highway Patrol. The 18-wheeler had previously overturned into the highway and caught fire.

“The front of the passenger car driven by Talley then struck the 18-wheeler that was overturned into the highway,” Moore said.

The two occupants of the 18-wheeler, Jorge Escalante-Lopez, 39 and Miguel Angel Ruiz-Leon, 34 both from Mexico was uninjured and did not require medical treatment.

Many people may remember David Talley as being a super nice guy with a heart of gold. Mr. Talley has always supported community events (including CCHT events), local schools and gatherings all throughout Clarke County. He was a local magician and could make just about anything imaginable from a balloon.

If there was an event or birthday party where children were present, you could usually find everyone gathered in one place around Talley as he was putting on quiet a show to make them laugh.

There will never be another balloon artist quiet like David Talley, and he will be greatly missed at the next community gathering we have in Clarke County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident. MHP says next of kin has been notified as of early this morning.”
