Sevierville woman died after car sank inside river in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Rebecca Lynn Hamby Death – Cause of Death : 22-year-old Rebecca Lynn Hamby, of Sevierville, Tennessee has lost her life after the car she was a front seat passenger plunged into a river and sank inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park, near Spur between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge in Tennessee at about 11:43 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
According report, Victoria Delawey, also of Sevierville, Tennessee was driving a 2019 Ford Fiesta southbound with Hambly as passenger when she lost control of the car close to the Gum Stand Road intersection and the car plummets into the river and sank.
Hamby sustained to her fatal injuries at the scene of the crash while Delawey was transported via ambulance to LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville, Tennessee with unknown degree of injuries.
Hamby was one of the “funniest and nicest people you’d ever meet”, according to a Facebook post made by Christopher Woodward.
Investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
