Billa O’Connell Death – Obituary: We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Cork legend and very good friend of the Neil Prendeville Show, Billa O’Connell. Billa passed away peacefully at 6.45am this morning. We’ve spoken to his beloved wife Nell in the last few minutes and she says that Billa would love the tribute he’s going to get from his friend Neil.
His career earned him Freedom of the City and an honorary degree from University College Cork. Billa was best-known as a performer in pantomimes, having made his debut in the Cork pantomime back in 1947. Billa went on to become a regular cast member of the pantomimes produced at the Cork Opera House. He was also a regular on this radio show and was always a joy to speak to, laugh with and sing with!
