Tori McCarthy Death – Obituary: Comedienne, singer, actress, and director Tori McCarthy have suddenly and unexpectedly passed away after battling with Leukemia on September 22nd.
Tori was a gifted comedienne, singer, actress and director. She played the title role of Sylvia- a play about a man who becomes closer to his dog than his wife. Tori played the dog. For years after the show ended, people approached her when she was waitressing at Brio’s and insisted she “bark like Sylvia” at their table unlit she finally acquiesced.
As a director, she was drawn to musicals. Her production of Little Shop of Horrors was easily the slickest, tightest production of a musical we’ve ever done at the Playhouse. Her production of Oklahoma ran over three hours long, because she refused to cut a number, because she felt that every actor deserved their time in the spotlight.
