Authorities say a New Jersey corrections officer was injured in an shooting at an Essex County training facility.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Thursday at the Essex County Firearms Training Facility in Cedar Grove, same location as the Essex County Police Academy. The female corrections officer was inside the facility taking part in a training exercise. Investigators say the officer’s gun accidentally went off, striking her to the buttocks.

The unidentified officer was transported to the hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Her identity was not immediately released by the academy.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating.
