A poll conducted by Monmouth University, published today (Monday), showed the Democratic candidate for the US presidential election, Hillary Clinton, ahead of her Republican rival, Donald Trump, by six percentage points among potential voters.

The university said in a statement: "The poll, which included 802 registered voters, found that 50 percent support Clinton, while 44 percent support Trump, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points."

The university indicated that the latest poll, published on October 17, showed Clinton's lead by 12 points.

Other polls released earlier in the day showed Clinton ahead by between 3 and 4 points, on average.
