President Donald Trump seemed keen to convey to the world and the leaders of the Arab and Islamic world his fascination with what he saw in Riyadh, through expressions of thanks and praise to which he devoted a long paragraph at the beginning of his speech to the Arab-Islamic-American summit in Riyadh yesterday. He began by expressing his thanks for “this great kingdom.” He said, "I am honored to receive this reception, as I have always heard about the magnificence of your country and the kindness of your citizens… but words do not fulfill this distinguished place and the wonderful hospitality that they deserve." In his speech, Trump referred to his visit yesterday to the King Abdulaziz Historical Center, and in particular to the photo that brings together King Abdulaziz Al Saud and President Franklin Roosevelt, which is the summit that established the ancient alliance between the two countries. Addressing King Salman bin Abdulaziz, he said, "Your father would be proud that you continued his legacy." He described Saudi Arabia as the birthplace of one of the greatest religions. He said that the path to peace and partnership against terrorism "starts from here, from this holy land."
