The General Entertainment Authority aims to bring happiness to the citizen and resident alike, as well as to organize and develop the entertainment sector in the Kingdom, and to upgrade all its elements, components and capabilities, without prejudice to the competencies and responsibilities of other agencies to do everything necessary in order to achieve its goals, including setting plans and standards for establishing facilities Entertainment facilities and events and their management, in coordination with the relevant authorities, as well as setting controls and standards for measuring performance in the entertainment sector, in order to ensure obtaining events of a high professional level.
The authority was established in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, to organize and develop the entertainment sector in the Kingdom and to provide recreational options and opportunities for all segments of society in all regions of the Kingdom, as well as enriching life and drawing joy, and to stimulate the role of the private sector in building and developing entertainment activities, under the supervision of the guardian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The entertainment sector is of great importance in developing the Saudi national economy and granting cities an international competitiveness. On April 25, 2016, the Crown Prince, on the day he launched Saudi Vision 2030, referred to the government’s push to activate the role of various government funds in establishing and developing entertainment centers, encouraging investors from inside and outside the Kingdom, establishing partnerships with international entertainment companies, and allocating lands for the establishment of cultural and entertainment projects, including libraries. Museums, art and more.
The authority supports and sponsors entertainment activities and events that are held by government agencies in coordination with those agencies, in addition to establishing a database that contains all government facilities equipped to host entertainment events, as well as establishing comprehensive service centers to grant licenses required for organizing entertainment events, in coordination with the relevant authorities. And a license to practice entertainment activities, and to work with distinguished local and international companies to provide products with professional entertainment content commensurate with the Arab-Islamic identity of the Kingdom.
National day
The Entertainment Authority participates in all national occasions, through various programs that target all segments of society, starting with children and ending with the head and head of the family. It has also provided support for many diverse festivals in a number of regions.
Various concerts
The Entertainment Authority was keen to diversify its entertainment activities and attract stars from all countries of the world, as the Kingdom witnessed the presence of many stars, including the international rai star Cheb Khaled, whose fans did not dream that he would sing among them in Saudi Arabia, but the Entertainment Authority fulfilled the dreams of the fans of this mass star in A big party, in which he not only sang his well-known tracks, but sang for the Saudi monarch, and made the tickets run out hours before the start of the concert.
Cheb Khaled sang at the party a group of his well-known songs, and he also performed a clip in which he sang to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, entitled “Long Live Salman.”
The 57-year-old singer was present at King Abdullah Economic City in Jeddah, accompanied by American singer Nelly. The evening lasted about 3 and a half hours, and was attended by more than 10,000 young Saudis, according to the tickets sold, and the attendance was limited to men.
Saudi youth celebrated a lot on social media with the presence of Cheb Khaled, and they broadcast clips from the ceremony.
The young Khaled had performed the rituals of Umrah before the party, and posted a picture of him in the Ihram clothes on his Instagram account, accompanied by his friend, director Yaqoub Al-Muhanna. This is the first concert by an Algerian rai singer, while it is the second concert by a well-known American singer this year, after Toby Keith attended Trump's visit to Riyadh.
Various activities during 2017
During the year 2017, the General Entertainment Authority organized a number of events, including a dialogue session with representatives of the media. The session was held in Riyadh to exchange views, introduce the authority, and discuss upcoming events for 2017. The authority announced its support for the Historic Jeddah Festival. The CEO of the General Entertainment Authority, Eng. Amr bin Saleh Al-Madani, said: We are honored to support this important event, which provides an opportunity for Saudis to recall the authenticity of the ancient past and recall the old days lived by parents and grandparents. And as part of our commitment to enhance the historical status of the Jeddah Festival and the successes it has achieved over the past years, this year we will provide distinguished and unique services. The festival's activities for this year will include a wide range of international performances, while 65 activities have been approved, which will be held according to the best international standards and will not bear repetition.
The commission also announced its sponsorship of the prestigious 39.21 Jeddah Art exhibition, which was held in Jeddah during February and May 2017. The art event was organized by the Saudi Art Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting artistic and cultural movement and supporting creativity in the Kingdom. The council is chaired by Princess Jawaher bint Majed bin Abdulaziz.
The authority also announced its support for the activities of (Monster Jam), the most famous giant truck show in the world, which was held on March 17 and 18, 2017 at King Fahd Stadium in the capital, Riyadh. The authority also supported the activities of the international exhibition (Comic Con), which was held for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia during the period from 16-18 February at the Take Off Social Center for Air Sports. Comic Con is considered an important global event, and copies of it were held in some of the most prominent cities in the world, including San Diego, London, Moscow, New Delhi, Sydney and Dubai.
