Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that foreign citizens who have fan ID cards for the 2018 World Cup can enter Russia without a visa until the end of this year.

Putin said in a press statement after the conclusion of the World Cup final, saying, "I think we will apply the visa-exemption system when entering Russia until the end of this year against foreign fans who currently have fans' identity cards."

Putin said he hoped to take advantage of this opportunity to visit the country with their friends and family members as foreign fans will be able to enter Russia "several times" without obtaining visas.
