The South African authorities devised a way to warn the population of the seriousness of the Corona virus, and urge them to follow the precautions approved by the World Health Organization, as they put a mask on the face of the giant iron sculpture of the late President Nelson Mandela, which is displayed in an industrial area outside the city of Pietermaritzburg, with a length of 3 meters. The “Global Crab Metal” company had asked the employee and artist Meninhli Nexil to build a three-dimensional sculpture of Mandela’s face in 2018. Work on it continued for about 3 months, while it consumed about 12,000 pipes of iron waste. The company's director, Yogan Govinder, commented (Monday): We wanted to create a state of awareness among society about the benefits of the muzzle, in order to avoid an increase in people infected with "Corona".
