The high demand for juice shops is one of the Ramadan customs among Egyptians, which many consider to be necessities on the breakfast table and one of the traditions of the month of fasting, and they are also offered to visitors.

On the other hand, these stores provided large quantities of “tamarind, licorice, and sobia” in addition to mango, guava, carob, and other types of juices, to be sold to citizens in plastic bottles or bags, and these products are usually bought an hour or two before sunset.

These popular drinks acquire a prominent position among many Egyptians, due to their cheap price on the one hand, and they give energy to the body on the other hand, and the owners of juice shops consider the month of Ramadan a great season in the sales process, and there are thousands of unemployed youth who work during the month of fasting due to its large income. The price of a bottle of Ramadan juice per liter, such as “licorice, dates, and sobia,” which are the most popular juices on Egyptian tables, ranges between 15 and 20 pounds, depending on the size, while the price of a liter bottle of mango and guava ranges between 35 and 40 pounds.

.. “The month of generous provision after absence.” With these words, Abdul Hadi Saber, the owner of a juice shop, began his speech, adding that the profession is witnessing great popularity during the month of Ramadan, explaining that dates, licorice and sobia are Ramadan drinks that occupy a special place since ancient times, due to their cheap price and health benefits. It is also the drink of the rich and the poor, and in front of the crowds to buy juices before the Maghrib call to prayer, some famous shops need additional new workers during this holy month, which opens many job doors for many young people and the unemployed.

Muhammad Abdul Karim, a juice seller, added: The shop in which he works offers all kinds of juices during the holy month, due to the diversity of the general taste of the customer, stressing that the greatest demand by citizens during the entire month of Ramadan is to buy licorice, dates and sobia, indicating that they, as workers, wake up early to prepare and prepare Juices, as the demand for buying begins after the Asr prayer, continuing: “The month of Ramadan for us is a great livelihood” in the sale process.

On the other hand, Muhammad Fathi, an “employee,” believes that buying juices daily during Ramadan is necessary because of their importance, indicating that the Egyptian people are in love with “licorice,” which was confirmed by the thirty-year-old Ahmed Eid, stressing that “juices” have become a priority for Egyptians, more than eating. On the Ramadan tables, while Ahmed Abdullah says that “licorice and dates” juice is a traditional part of the Ramadan breakfast for the Egyptians, as they provide the body with energy after a long day of fasting, while Hisham Al-Sayed, “a private sector employee,” believes that the high prices made some reduce the purchase of Juices, instead of buying three bottles, for example, you can buy two or one, or the purchase depends on the number of family members, but in all cases juices are an important thing, even if “one cup” for breakfast.
