The Director General of the Red Crescent in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region, Dr. Mustafa bin Jamil Baljoun, revealed that the Red Crescent Authority has set plans and programs for the Ramadan season to raise readiness in all ambulance centers in the Holy Mosque of Mecca and the central region, and in each of the Al-Nuriya, Al-Zaidi, Al-Layth, Al-Kar and Al-Sharia’ reservations at the entrances to Makkah Al-Mukarramah. This is to provide first aid services at the highest level of quality, in line with the expected numbers of pilgrims and visitors to the Holy House of God during the blessed days.

Baljoun added that the authority launched this season bicycle teams with 20 bicycles, which is one of the innovative ideas that the authority introduced within its ambulance fleet, in addition to motorcycle teams in the central area. This is to quickly reach emergency cases and provide first aid to the sick and injured, pending the arrival of the ambulance.

Also participating in the Ramadan plan are disaster vehicles, which are: a (Tuwaiq) bus designated for transporting multiple injuries with a capacity of 10 injuries, and it is equipped with all medical equipment, integrated first aid bags, and electric shock devices. Confined spaces and contains 45 oxygen cylinders, in addition to 10 first aid bags, and shares the vehicle (Sanad) that contains medical consumables, and shares the vehicle (Thuraya), which is a command and control vehicle with a mini operating room and has the ability to monitor the event and control the ambulance teams and send and receive emergency communications .

The Red Crescent Authority receives a request for emergency service via the number 997, or through the “Help me” application, which allows users to create a report through a mobile phone, call an ambulance team, request assistance by sending a distress call, know the status of the report, and track its path. It allows ambulance teams to find out the location of the informant, and also provides knowledge of health facilities close to the user, emergency numbers, and other relief agencies.
