As part of Lulu's sustainability, environmental, community and corporate governance program, a solar project was installed at Lulu's warehouse in Riyadh, with contracts from Kanoo Industry and Energy and CleanMax. As a result of this project, the first year is expected to generate 0.87 million kWh of electricity.
With such a huge solar project, LuLu has taken an important step towards sustainability demonstrating its commitment to environmental, social, corporate governance and eco-friendliness standards of practice. The installation of solar energy will reduce the carbon footprint of Lulu Warehouse and will lead to significant energy cost savings, which will contribute to a more sustainable future. Moreover, if LuLu's production exceeds its need, LuLu plans to contribute to the Kingdom, demonstrating its commitment to supporting sustainable development.
“As part of this important step towards a more sustainable future, we are pleased to partner with Kanoo and CleanMax on this remarkable solar project,” said Mr. Shehim Mohammed, Regional Director of Saudi Lulu Group of Supermarkets. He added, "Installing solar energy will not only reduce the carbon footprint of Lulu's warehouse, but will also lead to significant savings in energy costs."
The Lulu Warehouse solar project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and will be able to reduce carbon emissions and save energy costs.
