The Egyptian Al-Ahly club’s board of directors issued an official statement regarding the events of the Red Genie match against its Sudanese counterpart, Al-Hilal, in the last round of the group stage in the African Champions League.
And Al-Ahly of Egypt defeated Al-Hilal of Sudan, 3/0, in the match that brought them together on the grounds of the Cairo Stadium, and the Red Genie qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
And the Egyptian Al-Ahly club statement read:
Al-Ahly Club, which puts the supreme interest of the homeland first, out of concern for the close historical relations between the two brotherly peoples, the Egyptian and Sudanese, and for some media outlets to have incorrect information, after the Al-Ahly and Al-Hilal match last Saturday evening at the end of the group stage in the Champions League; The club raised the matter fully to the concerned state institutions, and sent a letter to the Confederation of African Football, in which it clarified all the facts, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.
