The Louisville Police Department, Kentucky, announced that five people were killed and six others were wounded in a shooting at a downtown bank today (Monday). And the police said in a statement after confirming the attack that the shooter was killed, without going into details. It is not yet clear if the attacker was among the five dead. "We do not know the exact circumstances of his death at this time," Louisville Deputy Police Chief Paul Humphrey told reporters.

Police said they acted within minutes of receiving reports of an attacker at around 12:30 GMT (12:30 GMT) at the Old National Bank near Slugger Field in the city center of 625,000. While the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) indicated that its agents went to the scene.

"I was stopped at a traffic light, and the first thing I saw was a man across the street at the intersection and he was lying down at the entrance of a hotel," an eyewitness told WDRB, a local Fox affiliate.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said he drove to the city after the shooting.

In late March, at least three children and three adults were killed in a shooting at a private school in Nashville, Tennessee, before police shot and killed the attacker, who appeared to be a teenage girl. Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said the shooter was carrying at least two semi-automatic rifles and a handgun. Two policemen from a team of five fired at her.
