The Saudi Tourism Authority announced the launch of new tourism packages. In cooperation with the National Center for Wildlife Development, it provides tourists in the Saudi winter season with the opportunity to enjoy visiting 3 natural reserves, which are “Uruq Bani Maarid Reserve, Saja and Umm Al-Ramth Reserve, and Farasan Islands Reserve.”

Through this step, the Tourism Authority provides a wonderful opportunity to embark on a journey of exploration of wildlife rich in environmental and climatic diversity, natural, rare plant and animal resources, and many diverse and enjoyable activities such as visiting archaeological sites, camping, safaris, stargazing, hiking and many others.

The Uruq Bani Ma`arid Reserve is located along the southwestern edge of the Empty Quarter; It is the largest sea of sand on the face of the earth, and it preserves a diverse spectrum of wildlife and the most wonderful desert landscapes. The reserve’s temperatures range in the winter between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius. And others, in addition to a number of perennial and rare shrubs in this particular region.

As for the Farasan Islands Reserve, it is located in the southeastern part of the Red Sea coast, and it is an archipelago that includes more than 170 islands, 40 to 90 kilometers from the city of Jizan. More than 180 species, some of which are found only in this reserve, in addition to 50 species of dense coral, and 230 species of fish.

While the “Saja and Umm Al-Ramth Reserve” is located in the central western region of the Kingdom, and it is a thin sandy plain with muddy, rocky and sandy hills, it was famous as a site for the resettlement of houbara, oryx and ostriches. The temperatures in this region range between 9 and 23 degrees Celsius in the winter season, and it is characterized by its medium vegetation cover, which helps preserve the genetic assets of livestock and rare birds.
