Col. Abu Osman Chowdhury, Bir Uttam, Commander of Sector 8 of our glorious war of liberation passed away this morning.He conducted the war of liberation of this important sector with great skill and heroism. He displayed his military genius with unprecedented patriotism and liberated most parts of the sector within first quarter of December,1971.
I know him since May, 1971 when I was introduced with him by another hero of our liberation war Mahbubuddin Ahmed. He sought my help in recruitment of freedom fighters. He helped us to induct freedom fighters to Rajbari area by providing safe passage. He was tough but amiable, strict but flexible, gentle but firm and a military leader with people s’ touch. This nation will never forget him for his heroic contribution to liberate the motherland.
We pray for the salvation of the departed soul. He will live in minds of people forever.

this morning (innalillahi wainna ilaihi rajiun). He was a charismatic person, a great war hero, an honest and pious man.
