“You cannot reach your destination if you stop and throw stones to every dog that barks at you” – Winston Churchill
Life is full of distractions, from a gossiping neighbor to an insensitive boss to a nagging wife, a talkative friend or a social ‘bird in the air’ partner who wants to be the spotlight in every social event or must go for every social even if s/he was not invited.
Most distracting is the one that seats upon his failure to point out every fault he sees in you or gives you a thousand reasons why your ideas are impossible.
We are all stars in this life, whenever anybody tries to judge another person’s greatness, he becomes like a primitive man on earth who see the twinkles at night and thinks “why do these tiny things come out at night”. Little does he know that some of those little twinkles are actually million times bigger than the day star (our sun) which is also a million times bigger than our little planet.
Let’s try something, imagine that you, living in this present scientific age with out knowledge of stars, then somehow you are transported to the past and you try to tell this primitive that some of those things he see at night is a million times bigger that the sun he see in the day and that the sun is close to a million times bigger than this earth he lives in. Though he has barely gone a few miles from his village which means he does not even know the actual size of the earth, still he may stone you to death for coming to tell him the greatest lie in the world. He will do this cos he cannot grasp fully what he see due to the distance of the object from him, we can say he is ignorant. In fact lets not go too far, as close as a few centuries ago, one of the charges against Socrates was that he said the sun was a big ball of fire and prior to his execution, many so called enlightened minds laughed at him scornfully for having such a crazy idea. But today what do we know about the sun……..its a celestial planet whose temperature is in millions of degrees Celsius.
Anybody who tries to see who or what you are will only see a night star, they can never see your full greatness cos sometimes even that is not known by you, it unfolds as you develop yourself in the vineyard of your career.
For the nay sayers, at their best, they become as primitive as the primitive man who will most likely kill anybody that tells him those tiny things he sees at night are bigger than he is or is bigger than this world he lives in.
The truth is that every person who does not provide you with useful resource or motivation for blossoming the best in you is a dog barking at you, don’t allow their fangs pierce you deep cos it should not disturb your cool, ignore them, those who complain don’t care and those who care will not complain, they will be by your side with any assistance they can offer till you get to where you are going. That’s the value of true friendship
