Very sad to find out late last night about the sudden passing of Yehonatan Berick, a magnificent violinist, beloved music teacher and colleague at @uOttawaMusic, and just all-around mensch. My deepest condolences to his family. May his memory be a blessing.

On Saturday, my friend and colleague Yehonatan Berick passed away tragically at the age of 52. He was a fantastic violinist & a wonderful human being. I’m sharing this work by Paul Ben Haim that we recorded w Gila Goldstein & Alexander Fiterstein.

It is with a profound sense of loss and tremendous grief that we announce the sudden passing of our dear colleague and mentor Yehonatan Berick. A musician of the highest calibre, a generous and devoted teacher, a cherished peer of the utmost integrity. @uOttawaMedia @uOttawaArts

Our community lost one of its most beautiful, generous, kind souls this weekend. One of my favourite memories of Yehonatan Berick was watching him “air violin” his student’s master’s recital from his seat at the adjudicator’s table as she performed on stage. Always a teacher.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Yehonatan Berick, violin and viola virtuoso who was faculty for Banff Centre’s Violin Masterclass program in 2016.

Our hearts go out to Berick’s loved ones during this difficult time. May his memory be blessed.

All of us @CanadasNAC NAC are saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Yehonatan Berick, a highly respected colleague, violinist and pedagogue. Our deepest condolences to his family, his beloved partner @Rachelcello, principal cellist of @NACOrchCNA, and @uOttawa colleagues.

Yehonatan Berick was a big bear of a man,a beautiful musician. His smile was huge, inviting. He was the partner of our marvellous 1st cello Rachel. The swiftness of his departure is near violent. Today NACO has one heart and it cries for him, for her and their family. Now rest.

Devastated to just discover a college friend, and 1993 Naumburg Winner, Yehonatan Berick (violin) passed away yesterday. Only two weeks after receiving news of having cancer. We appeared together on our 1st commercial recordings. Attended CCM together.

Shattered by this. Devastated that we’ve lost violinist Yehonatan Berick. He was vivacious, funny, warm, & supremely talented. Our hearts are with his family, colleagues and students. Endless love to his partner and our friend Rachel. 💔 @rachelcello @NACOrchCNA @NacoMusicians

Stunned and sad to learn yesterday of Yehonatan Berick’s passing. 😔 Deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to study with him at McGill. An inspiring artist and person (with a wicked sense of humour) whose teaching has never left me to this day. RIP Yehonatan.
