Shooting at Portillos Gurnee – Authorities say a 26-year-old Zion man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital after he was shot in the parking lot of Portillo’s near Gurnee Mills mid-Saturday.
According to the Gurnee Police Department, the incident happened at about 2:10 p.m. at Portillo’s, 6102 West Grand Avenue in Gurnee. Officials responded after receiving shots fired report. Arriving officers loc6ted a man suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot at the scene. A passerby was administering first aid before police arrived at the scene.
The unidentified man was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was listed in a very critical condition. Police say the man succumbed to his injuries sometime after. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The incident is actively under investigation by Gurnee police detectives and Lake County Major Crime Task Force investigators.
