The American pharmaceutical company Moderna announced yesterday that it is confident that by the end of the current decade it will be able to make available two new vaccines against both cancer and heart disease, which will save millions of lives. The company's chief physician, Dr. Paul Burton, told the British newspaper, The Guardian, that vaccines against cancer, heart disease, and immunodeficiency diseases will be ready by 2030. He stressed that studies of these vaccines showed "very significant indications", to the extent that experts saw that Progress over 15 years achieved in 12-18 months. They attributed this to the success of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is based on mRNA technology. Dr. Burton said that Moderna will provide treatments for a large number of diseases within a period not exceeding five years. He added that the company will be able to provide personalized vaccines for people against a number of types of cancer. He added that respiratory syncytial disease will immunize the individual against it with a single needle. It also provides protection against influenza and COVID-19. He added that mRNA technology will allow Moderna to introduce drugs for rare diseases for which there are currently no cures. He pointed out that a biopsy (sample) will be taken from the tumor that the patient suffers from, and sent to the laboratory to find out the genetic makeup of the tumor, so that the genetic defect can be re-engineered, so that the body targets cancer cells without harming healthy cells.
