The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah region has completed its preparations to launch a laboratory for examining the quality and safety of agricultural products in the vegetable and fruit market, in response to what Okaz published, early last spring, about the market’s loss of the laboratory. The general manager of the branch, Eng. Ayman Al-Sayed, checked the laboratory equipment to ensure its readiness, indicating that the laboratory that will work in it during the coming period will contribute to monitoring agricultural products and enhancing quality and food safety processes, indicating that this comes within the framework of the branch’s keenness to enhance food security and ensure Ensure the safety of crops and agricultural products before they reach the consumer, by early detection of the presence of pesticide residues in agricultural products using the latest high-precision devices.

And Okaz had published a report on the lack of a laboratory for examining agricultural products in the vegetable and fruit market, despite the passage of two years and three months since the Council of Ministers approved the transfer of 7 specializations from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs to the Ministry of Environment, including public benefit markets, and the latter takes over the tasks of supervising these specializations. This forced the Ministry of Environment branch in the city to use the Ministry's laboratories in Riyadh, which takes a long time until the results of the analyzes are issued.
