The Syrian poet and thinker Ali Ahmed Saeed (Adonis) will be the guest of the Arab Poetry Academy and the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, the day after tomorrow (Wednesday).

Adonis was born on January 1, 1930, in the village of Qasabin in the city of Jableh in Syria. He began studying at the hands of his father, who taught him to read and write, and helped him memorize ancient poetry. At the age of thirteen, he recited his first patriotic poem in front of President Shukri al-Quwatli, calling for the opening of a school in his village. He responded to his request and the state gave him a scholarship to study at the French Secular School in Tartous. In 1954 he obtained a degree in philosophy from the University of Damascus, and in 1973 he obtained a certificate. PhD.
