The Council welcomed the positive results issued at the end of the summit that brought together the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and US President Donald Trump in Riyadh last Saturday, and the Council confirmed in a statement at the beginning of its thirty-seventh regular session of the first year’s work of the seventh session that it held yesterday (Monday). Chaired by the Council Chairman, Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, the results of the Saudi-American summit will contribute to strengthening and consolidating the existing strategic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America in a number of fields, and will be supportive of efforts to stabilize and enhance regional and global security and stability.
The Council pointed out that Trump's choice of Saudi Arabia as his first stop on his foreign visit is evidence of the position it occupies in the world, and the importance it represents to all Muslims, and evidence of the influential political weight of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques at the level of the region and the world that he gained over the years, and praised the signing of The joint strategic vision between the Kingdom and the United States of America, indicating that it is a turning point in the relations that will move from the strategic dimension and partnership to a higher and higher level by intensifying the processes of consultation and cooperation. It will also have an important economic dimension in support of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
The Council indicated that the seventeenth consultative meeting of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council states affirmed the solidarity of the Gulf states and their communication in order to preserve their security and the prosperity of their peoples, and noted the Riyadh Declaration issued at the conclusion of the Arab-Islamic-American Summit.
The Council affirmed that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques showed the world some of the strengths that Saudi Arabia possesses, pointing out that the convening of these summits and at this level demonstrated the Kingdom’s ability, influence, and the importance it represents to all Muslims, and the influential political weight it occupies at the level of the region and the world, based on a policy Firm and committed to the principles of international laws, support for legitimate rights, consolidation of principles of justice and equality, and the protection and promotion of human rights.
