The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, indicated that the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council are “gardens in the midst of fires” because the collective mind of the Gulf is aware of the challenges facing societies, whether in the Arab and Gulf environment or at the global level. Hence, the GCC countries are keen to build thought and promote Communication with citizens in order to fortify the internal environment.
Noting that the countries of the Cooperation Council achieved the Millennium Goals ahead of schedule, and today they seek to achieve the international goals amid an atmosphere fraught with violence and extremism, by delivering positive messages to young people and enhancing confidence between them and them. The Council was able to meet with 24 thousand Gulf citizens to build a serious and responsible dialogue and strengthen Direct communication that leads to achieving common goals.
During his participation in the International Government Communication Forum in Sharjah, Al-Zayani said: The sustainable development that the countries of the world are working to achieve constitutes a fundamental pillar in the work of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which has achieved many achievements in this regard and is continuing its efforts to achieve an integrated partnership between the countries of the Council, especially in the field of Achieving the common Gulf market, which the Higher Economic Commission has been achieving. As for the role of government communication in achieving development, Dr. Al-Zayani said that knowledge is the basis for achieving communication and communication between governments and citizens, and leaders who work for prosperity must realize that the citizen is the means and the goal of communication.
He added that «the communication process requires that each individual perform his role and each institution or party has its responsibility, taking into account that the citizen is the pivot, the end and the means to achieve development. Citizens must be aware of all the efforts made by governments to provide them with the elements of well-being and prosperity, and governments must take into account in their plans and strategies issues that touch the needs and aspirations of citizens in order to prioritize, especially in light of the growing social, economic, environmental and security challenges.
