So sad to hear of the passing of Alex Peeler, a lovely, generous, gentle, and talented young man. I was so lucky to have him as a student and it was always a pleasure to talk to him.

We’re deeply saddened to learn of Alex Peeler’s sudden passing at the far-too-young age of 27.

He was such a positive force in the world. A brave disability advocate, an aspiring filmmaker, and a great human being, Alex was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

Rest easy my friend.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the League announces the sudden passing of Alex Peeler. Alex was a passionate advocate for persons with disabilities, serving as Chairperson for the Nova Scotia League for Equal Opportunities since 2018. In addition to pursuing his videographer dream, Alex was also serving on Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Directorate’s Advisory Council and the Council of Canadians with Disabilities. Our hearts go out to Alex’s family, friends, and colleagues during this most difficult time.

It is with heavy hearts that we are sharing the news of the passing of Alex Peeler on July 6, 2020. Alex volunteered with Small World Learning Centre many times over the years. He helped our organization grow with a solid marketing plan; taught us about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and attended fundraisers always lending a hand to count the money at the end of the event. He was a pleasure to work with, his intelligence, kindness, positive attitude and dry wit was appreciated and will be missed.

Alex’s mom, Shelley Peeler is a great friend and a valued, long term educator at SWLC and his dad Brian has volunteered constantly over the years. There are no words to console them.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Shelley, Brian, Alex’s siblings Alyssa and Anthony and his grandmother’s Nina and Myrna.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
