Amanda Markowitz Obituary – Death: Corrections Officer Amanda Markowitz, of Girard, Ohio, has passed away. Officer Amanda Markowitz died she was struck by a vehicle on Friday night in Ohio.
“New Castle Police Department. The New Castle City Police Department is saddened by the death of Lawrence County Corrections Officer Amanda Markowitz. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Markowitz’s family, friends and the entire Lawrence County Jail staff.”
Amanda Markowitz and her partner Morales had reportedly been drinking at a home in Liberty on Friday night when Morales got into their car and tried to drive away. Markowitz was standing behind the car when Morales put the vehicle in reverse and struck Amanda.
“Just wanted to thank everyone for the outpouring of support shown to not only me but my co workers for the passing of Officer Amanda Markowitz. Alot of you have texted or inboxed me about her arrangements. Nothing is officially known if and when they will hold a service.
For now anyone is welcomed to stop down at the jail parking lot to pay respect to her make shift memorial.
In the meantime just know how all of us appreciate the support shown by you. It is in times like this that you really discover who cares. She was a great officer and a great person to have known.
