I’m VERY saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of my old friend and collaborator Amy Crane Johnson. Amy was a very talented author, editor, creative personality, mother and grandmother. I had the fortunate opportunity to illustrate a series of four picture books Amy wrote called the “Solomon Raven series”. She told me that she wrote the first book “A Home For Pearl Squirrel” while in a writing class. Those books changed my life in so many ways. I always loved working with her and her great laugh, creative ideas and sense of humor. It was always fun doing school and bookstore visits with her and we would both find the same things funny and tease each other about dumb stuff. Regrettably the past 10 years or so we did not cross paths much and we lost touch other than the occasional Facebook comment.
