I love her so and am so grateful for all the love she showed to so many of us. I have to say there is comfort in knowing there is such a powerful, brave, and loving ancestor in our circle. We certainly will need them all as we continue the struggle in this terrifying moment. Grateful to be able to pull out letters with her writing and love on them to pour over tonight.”

We give thanks for the life and ministry of our friend, Plowshares activist and peace witness Ardeth Platte, OP, who was committed to the nonviolent message of Jesus. She died in her sleep last night. May her family and community find comfort. Sister Ardeth, pray for us.

Thank you for everything, Sister Ardeth ❤️ Yesterday, we received the sad news that Sister Ardeth Platte, the inspiring activist, ICAN campaigner & Dominican nun, passed away. She was such a warm, courageous and inspiring voice in our movement, it’s hard to find the right words.

My good friend died today. Sister Ardeth Platte. An angel. She went to jail/prison over 30 times for protesting against nuclear weapons. She was a character on Orange is the New Black. She was the most kind and humble person I have ever met.

I’m heartbroken by the passing of Sister Ardeth Platte. I’m struggling to find something eloquent enough to express what she meant for me & many in this movement. She was one of the bravest activists I know & I’m so sad because the world needs more people like her, not less.

Tender Sister Ardeth Platte, OP died last night. You’ll soon see stories of her heroic life of peace activism. I cherish memories of her talking to me about Jesus while we were both handcuffed, telling me of reading Acts of the Apostles in jail, & emails of her beloved garden.

I was so sad to hear about the death of Sr. Ardeth Platte, OP, today. The nun on Orange is the New Black was based on her and her radical witness for peace. I did a really fun interview with Ardeth about it back in 2015. May her memory be a revolution
