Investigations are ongoing after an adult male was shot and killed by an officer Sunday night at a Mounds View, Minnesota liquor store.
Mounds View Police Chief Nate Harder says, an officer-involved shooting occurred after a report of gunfire and armed robbery was made in the 2500 block of County Road I in Mounds View. At about 7 p.m. Officials responded to a plaza located at 2565 County Road I. Shortly after arrival, officers received another 911 call reporting an armed robbery in a nearby parking lot outside the Aldi store in the same plaza.
Investigations connote the robbery victim was being held at gunpoint at Aldi and was forced to drive over to the nearby Merwin Liquors store before the unidentified gunman fled inside the store. As investigators arrived at the liquor store, an employee ran out, saying a man with a gun was inside, by himself.
After some minutes of confrontation, Police say shots were fired by a number of officers with both the Mounds View and New Brighton police departments, striking the man. He was hurriedly taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is in charge of the investigations. This story will be updated.
