Prof. Msimanga had a stint at Sol Plaatje University as Head: School of Education and recently returned to Wits University as Head: School of Education where she had initially spend her academic career, before leaving for Kimberley. AUDREY MSIMANGA Many of you will know by now of the passing of Audrey, Head of the School of Education at WITS and my very dear friend. We worked together in South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique and many other places. Last year I worked with her at Sol Platje in Kimberley. We always ate together and shared so many stories. She enriched my life and I am made better for having known her.
Dr Audrey Msimanga A colleague, a friend, a sister, an aunt to my children, and a grandmother to my grandson. Gone too soon Sisi. The laughter over numerous cups of tea at the cafeteria at Wits, we even had our little corner, the family dinners, the support at Heidelberg, the long drives to the Eastern Cape with our halfway stops in Bloemfontein. I still owed you a drive to Zim. Kind, soft spoken, witty, funny. You are going to be sorely missed. David and Stuart, family and friends, we pray for strength in this difficult time. She will never be far. You only have to look into your hearts to find her. Sisi, you will continue to live in the lives that you touched. Hamba kahle.
Wits learnt today of the passing of Professor Audrey Msimanga, the Head of the Wits School of Education, who did not recover from her illness after contracting COVID-19. We have lost a great leader in teacher & science education today. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Professor Msimanga’s family, colleagues, and students during this very difficult time.
