Becky Morton was a force of nature &, particularly as a junior female scholar, I admired her unapologetic nature especially when pushing for her postdocs’ rights at @NYUAD_SocialSci. I’ll always remain grateful for her mentorship during my time there & she will be deeply missed.

RIP Becky Morton. She was a pioneer in formal theory, lab experiments, elections, & political science. Her mentorship is well known. I remember first meeting her at #APSA when I was a lowly junior faculty member, where she was unbelievably generous with her time and ideas.

My heart is broken that we’ve lost my dear friend and mentor Becky Morton. She was brilliant, fearless, powerful, and incapable of lying. I’m pretty sure I’m a political scientist today through just the force of her will. I can’t fathom a world without her energy.

One of my first acts as chair of NYU Politics was to hire Becky Morton. Becky’s PhD was in economics. But her work, which transcended traditional disciplinary boundaries, reminds us that those boundaries need not constrain our work.
Rest in peace, Becky.

Our colleague Becky Morton passed away yesterday. She was a mentor and great friend to many of us. She fought her way to great success, built institutions, and tirelessly used her achievements as a perch to pull other people up. I am very sad.

Becky Morton was a great scholar who also made our discipline better. She made up her own mind and broke through information cascades about talent like few others. It’s no wonder she helped to make NYU a great department. I will miss her. RIP Becky.
