This morning we were incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Bernice Ruhl.

Through running our media room for over 20 years and running concessions at the Bayshore prior, she had an outsized impact on hockey in Owen Sound, fitting for someone with such an outsized personality.

Bernice was named Owen Sound’s Volunteer of the Year and Senior of the Year in 2014 for her contributions to the community.

We’ll miss your smile and your stories, Bernice.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and loved ones in this difficult time.

Sad news in Owen Sound. I understand that Bernice Ruhl passed away early this morning. Anybody who ever bought snacks at The Harry-Lumley Bayshore canteen or visited the Attack Media Room over the last few decades knows Bernice. Condolences to the Ruhl family on Bernice’s passing. Her smile, style & warmth will always be remembered

Guessing Bernice was related to Ken Ruhl who taught with my grandmother, Jessie Fisk, at Strathcona. I was also the batboy with the teachers men’s fastball team that Ken played on. Cy Lemon and others were on that team. Yes, sad news!

Sad news for our Attack family. Always a smile. Always a hug. Didn’t matter if we had won or lost ten in a row, you could always count on Bernice’s kindness when you visited the media room. Condolences to the Ruhl family.

Bernice Ruhl was the kind of person who immediately made you smile when she was around. She was so exceedingly kind to me during my time in Owen Sound…she was the person I looked forward to seeing most on game days. I will never forget her. May her memory be a blessing

Sad news. Bernice Ruhl passed away early this morning. Everybody knows Bernice, or at least purchased snacks from her at the #LumleyBayshore or met her during the decades she was the @AttackOHL Media Room hostess. Bernice may be gone…but that smile will be remembered forever.

The Attack organization is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Bernice Ruhl.

Bernice made a massive impact on hockey in Owen Sound, running our media room for 20+ years and concessions at the Bayshore prior to that.
