Yesterday morning, my Uncle Bill Schaafsma was involved in a fatal car accident. It’s hard to believe that this was the day that Jesus wanted to call his faithful servant home, but we can rest assured that he is singing and dancing with the angels right now❤️ Uncle Billy, I hope you get to eat endless amounts of pickled herring 🐠 and sing at the top of your lungs up in Heaven, just like you used to at our family parties. Love you & miss you already

My heart is so broken as I post this. Heaven gained another angel today. My brother Bill Schaafsma was in a very serious car accident yesterday morning. He was a very special person and we will always remember the awesome times we had together! Billy you were taken from us too soon but I know that you are sitting in Heaven Yucking it up with Uncle Herman and chatting with all the ones who went before you. I love you and will miss you more than ever!! Till we meet again

Yesterday I lost a good friend Bill Schaafsma who was called home yesterday. Bill was one of the smartest and best of the best 597 Pipefitters that I have had a pleasure of knowing for over 30 years and worked together on numerous specialty projects at AMS for over the last 18 years. We spoke almost everyday the last 10 years. He was always joking with me or getting my goat because I was told I was an easy target but it was all fun and we would laugh about later. Whe would occasionally have lunch when we were in downtown Chicago regularly with customers and we talked about jobs and about our families but were always supportive of each other. We sometimes disagreed on the way to approach a certain job but Bill won most of the disagreements. Everyone Bill came in contact with he touched their lives and left a lasting impression on them. He will be missed by many and people that I haven’t spoken to in 30 years have been contacting me about Bill. I am still processing the pain and will miss him dearly as many others in his life. Please pray for his family at this difficult time.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
