Tributes To Brendan Maguire

Below are some of the statements shared across social media users’ timelines on the death of Maguire.

“I am so heartbroken to actually write this, but last night we said goodbye to one of the kindest people I have ever known, Brendan Maguire. I had the privilege to spend years with him on the road, share the stage with, share a bed with, share a van with, and share endless memories that I will carry with me forever. He was a great dad, father, husband, and friend.
When we asked him to play in Bane, we knew before we even played one show with him that is was a perfect fit.
I can’t really express all the emotions we are all feeling right now.
Tell everyone you love that you love them whenever you can. I love you, Brendan Maguire 💔”

“RIP Brendan Maguire (Bane/Reach the Sky). I was looking forward to seeing your smile at your benefit show this Friday. It doesn’t make sense.

“Stu and Lee had called me at the start of Memorial Day weekend to tell me the news I had a feeling was coming. They had told me if there was ANYTHING I wanted to do with the family, to not waste any time. I jokingly told them all I want to do, is drive somewhere in a box truck again. Some of my favorite memories of time spent with the guy were just the two of us talking about life, sports, music, television and jokes in the cab of a truck somewhere in this country. For days he and I would move band gear from state to state and hit the hotel bars when done. I surprised them on a random weekday a couple weeks back, pulled right up to the driveway and asked him and Nora to get in the truck, We’re going on a cruise. As you can see Nora wasn’t immediately thrilled, Stu was smiles for the photo but was totally like “seriously dude” but we were ALL SMILES by the time we got back to the house. No way I was leaving without a second trip with Lennon and Lee this time. I’m so glad we captured that otherwise ordinary Tuesday evening. These photos are now priceless to me. Zoom in on Nora hahaha. I LOVE IT, pre trip. There’s no after shot due to torrential rain and lightning when we got back. But I Love this family, and will forever miss the big guy who taught me more than he had ever known. I’m still sorry I got kicked off the offspring truck, I also wish we rented the sumo suits again so you could have got a fair rematch against me. I’ll try to make that happen on the other side my friend. Brendan Maguire Lee Maguire #werewithstu #imwithstu”

“I’m having a really hard time finding the right words to describe what you meant to me, what you meant to my family. We only met 5 years ago, but in that time you became one of the best friends we’ve ever had. My kids adored you, my husband looked up to you (literally and figuratively). I will be forever grateful you came into our lives, even if it was only for a short time. I love you Brendan Maguire and will miss you for the rest of my life.

“Rest In Peace, Brendan Maguire. Our deepest condolences to our friends in @banecentral, and Brendan’s friends, family, and fans.”

“Absolutely heartbroken at hearing about the passing of Brendan Maguire last night. If I remember correctly we met in 2001 when his old band Reach the Sky and Ensign were on tour. I think some shows fell through so someone cobbled a show together in Winnipeg with Figure Four. Some years later he joined Bane and we spent many miles together across North America and Europe. I have great memories of the late night poker sessions on the bus, listening to the Stu and Bobby stories and just his smile and positivity. My heart goes out to his wife and girls, my brothers in Bane and the greater extended family that Bane created and is really hurting right now. Dads gone wild forever!! #imwithstu”

“Last night we lost one of the kindest and humble men I’ve known. To me Brendan Maguire was a bandmate (before he made it big) and friend. More importantly he was an engaged and caring father and husband. He toured the world with some great bands and had great stories to tell, but he was clear that his home was where his wife and girls were. Since the day I watched him marry I never had a conversation where he didn’t mention his family.
Recently we got together for coffee, just as we had countless times before. The medicine was taking it’s toll but he was lucid and engaging, acknowledging in brutally honest terms that his road was ending but hopeful about the world he was leaving to his kids.
I told him then, just as I have many times before, Brendan, when I grow I want to be like you. Rest easy, brother.

“It hit me harder than I expected it to last night. Thank you Brendan Maguire for being such a good friend and person. I learned a lot from you at work, and after work too. You will be severely missed by many. And we’ll always hold space for you on stage right. Rest In Peace Stu.
