Tributes To Carol Breshears

Below are some of the statements shared across social media users’ timelines on the death of Breshears.

“Remembering #CarolBreshears (right) a true news industry leader but more importantly a mentor, a friend, and champion of women! Emmys, 1990s? Carol is among my favorite people ever and held my hand through my early LA news days. Forever grateful. RIP”

“My friend and fan is gone.
Carol Breshears was my biggest booster at KTTV-FOX11. A sweet, sassy and strong person, fiercely proud of her family, someone who treated you with deep respect, just because.
When I was nominated for an Emmy for FOX 11 in 2000, the ceremony was on Shabbat. So I asked Carol to accept for me, if I won. Well, I did. And what a speech she made, first explaining that I was home “celebrating the Sabbath” (yes, gentiles can do a Kiddush HaShem), then praising me to the hilt, calling my work “extraordinary.” Well, it’s Carol who was extraordinary, and I’ll never forget her. R.I.P.”

“My early Fox 11 days with this team and our beloved Carol Breshears .
Sadly our last conversations were about getting together after the pandemic. Carol (redhead/right)was m my strength and support on so many days as a rookie LA reporter and anchor. Her wisdom and expertise we’re only matched by her kindness, compassion, and encouragement.”

“RIP my dear beloved Carol Breshears! As a news industry leader, Carol was a mentor and tremendous source of support. As a rookie reporter/anchor, I don’t think I would’ve survived my early days in LA without her encouragement, kindness, friendship and excitement about the business. She was a long time assignment manager and we started at Fox 11 at about the same time. Carol was known for calling everyone “kiddo.” We did many great assignments together including a week long building blitz in Watts for Habitat for Humanity along with President Jimmy Carter. Sadly, our last conversations were about getting together after the pandemic. Sorry to hear the news that Carol passed away. She will forever have touched my life and was a true Godsend.🙏”

“Another huge loss for the broadcast community. Message from Bob Tarlau:
