I woke up to my new reality this morning. Life without my soulmate. We were married 14 years ago, today. We had been together for so many more. Chad Elliot Carroz was the most beautiful soul I have ever met. He had piercing blue eyes and eye lashes that many of us dream of having. He had a touch that would make everything bad in the world go away. He melted my heart over and over everyday. I realize now that I took those things for granted. What I wouldn’t do just to have one more moment in time with him. Chad had two passions. Zimmer Radio and his dogs. He has been part of the Zimmer Family for most of his life. He worked so hard to achieve his goal of General Manager several years ago. He lived, breathed, and bled Zimmer. He wanted nothing more than to help local businesses succeed and grow. He wanted the dreams of others to come true with the success of their small businesses. He fought for those success stories. He was a bulldog in the marketing world. He knew what he wanted and how to get it and made it happen. I was given a rare gift to work along side my husband almost 7 years ago. At first I thought it wouldn’t work. How can a couple be together 24/7. It had its challenges, but I wouldn’t trade one single minute of it for anything! 8-5 he was in charge. 5-8 I was in charge. It worked.
A few years ago he came up with an idea of raising German Shepherds. He wanted to build a kennel and raise beautiful dogs. And he did. He loved his dogs. Every night he would spend time with each of them. He worked his fingers to the bone building our own business. Chad was the most amazing father a girl could ask for. He and Mattie were oil and water. He loved to annoy her and she loved to annoy back. But they loved each other fiercely. He instilled in her his work ethic and how important it is to do and be the best you can. She taught him the words to Post Malone so they could drive me crazy rolling down the road. He was my best friend. My husband. My love. My light. My world.
I am lost and don’t want to do life without him by my side. I have to figure this new reality out. They say it will get easier and I know it will with time. Right now though, it’s the hardest waters I have ever navigated in my life. The air has been sucked out of me.
My Chad is gone and I need him back.
